The Islamic Resistance Movement “Hamas” has called on Palestinians to foil the occupation’s attempts to demolish houses of martyrs and detainees charged with participating in resistance operations.

In a press release on Saturday, Hamas’s West Bank leader Nazih Abu Oun called on Palestinian masses to shield houses of martyred and detained fighters, noting the success of this tactic in thwarting Israeli attempts to knock down houses in occupied Nablus and Shufat refugee camp earlier in the Jerusalem intifada.

He said that the Palestinian Authority need not to keep silent over the occupation’s revenge demolitions, noting that the PA has a role to relate this form of collective punishment to the International Criminal Court.

Abu Oun stressed the importance of popular solidarity campaigns in elevating the morale of families who come under the threat of punitive demolitions.

“What they knock down will be brought back up,” he said, adding that demolitions will only stiffen Palestinians’ resolve to resist the occupation and earn their freedom.
