The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas said on Monday that Palestinian women have made great sacrifices and played effective role in the Palestinian freedom struggle against the Israeli occupation.

Hamas Spokesman Abdel Latif al-Qanoa explained that more than 45 Palestinian women are still imprisoned by the Israeli occupation as the world marks International Women's Day.  

In a press release on International Women's Day, al-Qanoa added suppressing and detaining Palestinian women in harsh conditions reflect the terror nature of the Israeli occupation, which blatantly violates all international laws and humanitarian norms.
