The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas mourns the death of Palestinian Sheikh Atef Hanaiysha, the prayer caller at a mosque in the West Bank village of Beit Dajan east of Nablus.

Hanaiysha was shot dead by the Israeli occupation forces during a peaceful popular protest in the village Beit Dajan after the Friday prayer.

We salute the residents of Beit Dajan for warding off the attempts by Israeli settlers and Israeli occupation forces to take control of parts of their village.

We stress that activating resistance with all of its forms is capable of putting an end to the Israeli occupation and its plans and uproot the settlements which are spreading like cancer on Palestinian land in the occupied West Bank. 

We offer our condolences to the martyr’s family and residents of Beit Dajan and Nablus.
