On the steadfastness of the Palestinian citizens in Jerusalem, Hamas Spokesman Fawzi Barhoum stated the following:

The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas hails Palestinian citizens of Jerusalem for standing steadfast and resilient in the face of extremist and racist Israeli plots, violations and suppression that target their presence, rights, identity and holy sites.

As we praise the courageous resistance and enormous steadfastness of all Palestinian defenders of Al Aqsa Mosque and occupied Jerusalem and their fight against Israeli measures and violation, we confirm the Palestinian people’s support for Palestinian citizens of Jerusalem and their right to defend the al-Aqsa Mosque, their homeland and holy sites.

We call on all segments of the Palestinian people to turn any Israeli plan targeting Palestinian Jerusalemites and their rights into a confrontation through which they can restore all of their rights, above all their right to run for Palestinian elections and political participation.

We urge all Palestinian citizens, particularly of the occupied West Bank and the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948, to defend and protect the al-Aqsa Mosque; the struggle for the al-Aqsa Mosque is ongoing and will not end until it is liberated.
