Commenting on the latest Israeli aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip, Hamas Spokesman Fawzi Barhoum stated the following:

Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip and bombing of Palestinian resistance sites by the Israeli occupation, coupled with its crimes and violations against Palestinian in Jerusalem and worshipers at Al Aqsa Mosque, as well as the Israeli attempts to change the identity of the holy city, is part of Israeli mass and hostile policy against the Palestinian people elsewhere.

All such crimes and violations will not dissuade the Palestinian people from continuing their struggle and all forms of resistance to defend Jerusalem, Al Aqsa Mosque and their rights and freedom at any cost.

The response to such aggression by the Palestinian resistance is part of its national and moral duty in protecting the interests of the Palestinian people, defend them and prevent the Israeli occupation, which bears responsibility for the repercussions of this escalation, from imposing a new fait accompli.   

As we warn the Israeli occupation against continuing this aggression and committing any foolish acts against Palestinian Jerusalemites and Al Aqsa Mosque, we hold it responsible for the racist and provocative acts perpetrated by its soldiers and settlers against Palestinian Jerusalemites and defenders of Al Aqsa Mosque.

We also call for the Arab League, the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the Muslim world to assume their responsibilities and role in protecting Palestinian citizens in Jerusalem and Al Aqsa Mosque, adopt their struggle with the Israeli occupation, and immediately take measures capable of putting an end to the Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and their homeland and holy sites.
