Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh, accompanied by a delegation of senior Hamas officials, met Wednesday with Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

The meeting was also attended by Hamas deputy chief abroad Mousa Abu Marzouq and politburo members Izzat al-Risheq and Husam Badran.

During the meeting, they discussed a number of political and field developments related to the Palestinian cause, in addition to the Palestinian popular protests in occupied Jerusalem.

The Hamas delegation stressed that Jerusalem is the “essence of the freedom struggle with the Israeli occupation and no one is entitled to waive the Palestinians’ right to it.
“The struggle in Jerusalem is over the identity and the Palestinian presence in the city,” the delegation added. “Our Palestinian people are facing off Judaization and displacement plans and attempts to wipe out the manifestations of the Islamic civilization in the city.”  
The delegation reaffirmed Hamas’ constant position to go ahead with the three stages of the Palestinian vote. 
The Hamas delegation warned against any hesitation in holding the Palestinian vote, deeming it as a “reward for the Israeli occupation by achieving its goals of perpetuating the division and banning the Palestinian election.”
Emphasizing that Qatar and Hamas maintain close relations, the Hamas delegation pointed to the Gulf nation’s constant stances in support of the Palestinian people and their rights, and its role in alleviating the suffering of the Palestinians everywhere, especially in the besieged Gaza Strip.
