On the situation in the occupied Jerusalem’s Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood, Hamas official Rafat Nasif stated the following:

Victory in the battle over the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood will protect Jerusalem and stop the forced displacement of its Palestinian residents.

This battle heralds a new stage in the fight against the forced expulsion of Palestinian Jerusalemites and systematic demolition of Palestinian homes by Israeli occupation forces.

We salute Palestinian citizens of Jerusalem, particularly in Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood, and Muslim worshippers at Al Aqsa Mosque for facing off the Israeli aggression during the protests staged by Palestinians in the West Bank and the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948 in solidarity with their Jerusalemite brothers; all Palestinians have taken part in defending Al Aqsa Mosque. 

We call on the Palestinian masses to remain steadfast in Jerusalem and fend off attempts by the “Temple Mount” groups to storm into the al-Aqsa Mosque.

We urge for activating comprehensive resistance to the Israeli occupation and fighting it along with its settler-colonial project in the flashpoints.

Ceasing the Israeli aggression against our Palestinian land and Israeli dominance over the Palestinian lives will not be made possible, except through the option of resistance, which has proved itself as capable of putting an end to such aggression and bring our Palestinian cause on top of the regional and world agendas.
