The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas condemned on Wednesday dereliction and absence of UNRWA’s role regarding the internally displaced people in Gaza.
We condemn dereliction of UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and absence of its role regarding the internally displaced people (IDP) in Gaza who are taking refuge at its schools.
The number of the IDP, whose homes were destroyed by the Israeli occupation or those who fled the Israeli aggression on their neighbourhoods, rose to about 50,000 and they are staying at 58 UNRWA schools for the eighth consecutive day without having any basics for human life.
After looking into the issue, we found the certain sides from within the UNRWA working to undermine its efforts related to serving the IDPs over under fake pretexts.
We stress that the UNRWA is there to serve the refugees and IDPs, as well as to afford decent life for them, not to remain as a spectator just watching these crimes being committed against our people.
We expect to see an immediate change in the agency's behaviour and immediate action to provide people with all their humanitarian needs.
