The Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas said that Israel bears the full responsibility for assassination of the Palestinian former prisoner Omar Nayef in the Palestinian embassy in Sofia, Bulgaria on Friday.

In a press statement, Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri called for the resignation of the Palestinian foreign minister and the prosecution of the Palestinian ambassador in Bulgaria Ahmed al-Madbouh.

Abu Zuhri said that the crime, which was carried out inside the embassy headquarters, reflects the state of Palestinian embassies that reek of corruption.

“We urge the Palestinian Authority to consider this vicious crime seriously,” Abu Zuhri stated

“Investigations into the circumstances of this murder must be taken wholeheartedly away from empty formalities,” he underlined.

Palestinian former prisoner Omar Nayef, who escaped from Israeli custody after being indicted for a 1986 resistance operation, was assassinated on Friday morning at the Palestinian embassy in Sofia.

His family as well as Palestinian parties has accused the Mossad of assassinating Nayef, who took refuge in the embassy late last year ater the Israeli occupation demanded his extradition.
