Hamas chief in Gaza Yahya Sinwar described on Monday his meeting with the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process Tor Wennesland as “not positive and unproductive.”

Following a meeting with Wennesland in Gaza City, Sinwar explained that his movement would meet with the Palestinian factions to brief them on the results of this meeting, and to discuss how to exert pressure on the Israeli occupation through popular means.
During the meeting, both sides addressed the reasons behind the deterioration in the situation in Palestine, especially the Israeli lack of commitment and appalling violations of international law.

"We made it clear to the United Nations coordinator that the roots of the problem should be resolved," Sinwar added.

Sinwar continued: "We informed the representatives of the United Nations that we will not accept the continuation of the humanitarian crisis in Gaza".

Sinwar clarified that the Israeli occupation is inflicting collective punishment on all Palestinians in Gaza.
