At the invitation of the Hamas leadership, the Palestinian factions convened and discussed the latest political and field developments, especially following a visit by the UN special coordinator for the Middle East to Gaza on Monday evening.

This meeting took place in light of the “Sword of Al-Quds” battle that the Palestinian people in Jerusalem, the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948, the West Bank, and Gaza Strip, and in the diaspora fought, and during which major political facts were enforced, above all unifying the Palestinians everywhere behind their key national issues, foremost among them is Jerusalem, the eternal capital of Palestine.

The Palestinian factions also discussed attempts to blackmail the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip by the Israeli occupation, which mistakenly thought that it could twist the arm of the Palestinian resistance by aggravating Gaza’s humanitarian crisis or divert the Gazans’ attention from major national issues; that will never happen.
We are one people with one cause and we will remain united in the face of Israeli occupation and in defending Jerusalem, confronting settlement activity, supporting Palestinian citizens of the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948 and in diaspora, and working on breaking the siege imposed on the Gaza Strip.

During the meeting, the Palestinian factions stated the following:
First: We salute Palestinian citizens of Jerusalem and its neighbourhoods, particularly the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood, who are fighting every day to remain in their lands and making great sacrifices in this regard; we also salute the Palestinian defenders at the Al-Aqsa Mosque. We will continue to defend Jerusalem at any cost.

Second: We hail the Palestinian protesters in the occupied West Bank, especially the participants in night protests, who have embarked on imposing a new fait accompli against Israeli settlement activity and settlers. We call on them to turn all illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied West Bank into flashpoints.

Third: We condemn the UN’s collusion with the Israeli occupation by not including it in the international “list of shame”. We also denounce the UN envoy’s complicity with the Israeli position. The UN is a global political and humanitarian organisation responsible for achieving peace and aiding peoples, particularly those under occupation – not colluding with the Israeli occupation and abet it against a defenceless people subjected to various forms of blackmail and siege by the Israeli occupation authorities. Thus, we call on the UN Secretary-General to push the Israeli occupation to adhere to international law and support the Palestinian people; dozens of international resolutions were issued in their favour but none has been applied yet.

Fourth: We warn the Israeli occupation and its allies not to procrastinate or stall measures to break the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip, or to impede reconstruction of the Gaza Strip. The heroic Palestinian people and the valiant resistance will never stay silent. We are open to all options and we will fight the Israeli occupation with all popular means and other means. The Israeli occupation will not succeed in blackmailing and twisting the arm of the Palestinians. We will not accept any attempt to pile pressure on the Palestinian people or link various matters with each other. Our Palestinian people are ready to impose further equations.
