Deputy Head of Hamas’s political bureau Ismail Haniya phoned the wife of slain Palestinian Omar Nayef, who was assassinated inside the Palestinian embassy in Bulgaria last Friday.

Haniya condemned Nayef’s assassination and offered condolences to his wife, stressing that Nayef was a national freedom fighter and his assassination constitutes a national issue that tops partisanship calculations.

“The Palestinian Authority should assume its responsibility toward the assassination which took place in one of its institutions,” Haniya underlined.

He also demanded the Bulgarian authorities to investigate the assassination and prosecute Nayef’s murderers.
