Hamas has expressed its full appreciation to the Indonesian president Joko Widodo for calls he made in his statement at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation summit in Jakarta this week.

Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri said in a press release on Thursday that the Movement highly values president Widodo’s call for the Muslim Ummah to unite for the sake of Jerusalem, as well as his calls for boycotting Israeli products.

He also stressed that the Movement is ready to exert all efforts to fulfill the Indonesian president’s calls for Palestinian reconciliation.

“Hamas admires highly president Widodo’s stands which reflect his commitment towards the Palestinian cause,” Abu Zuhri said.

 In his speech, president Widodo also had firmly rejected the Israeli restriction of Muslim access to al-Aqsa Mosque, Muslim’s third holiest site.  

"The struggle of the Palestinian people is our struggle," president Joko said in his statement. "God willing, we may witness the independence of Palestine in our lives."
