Hamas’s student wing “The Islamic Bloc” has won student elections held on Wednesday at the Islamic University in Gaza.

Election Committee announced Wednesday evening that 2896 out of 5600 potential voters had participated in the latest round of elections to choose representatives for the 2016/2017 rotation.

The Islamic Bloc electoral list "The Jerusalem Intifada" secured a 86.85% majority of the votes, while the remaining votes went to the other 3 competing lists.

The Islamic Bloc has led the Islamic university's student council since the institution was established over 30 years ago.
