Hamas spokesperson Abdulateef Al-Qanoa said that organising a normalisation meeting for officials from the Ramallah-based Palestinian Authority and the Israeli occupation emphasizes the deviant demeanour of the PA’s leadership. 

In a press statement, Al-Qanoa said that such meeting was held at a difficult time as the Israeli occupation has been committing violations and crimes against the Palestinian people “who are now making sacrifices to support Palestinian detainees in their hunger strike” inside Israeli occupation jails. 

The Hamas spokesperson noted that this normalising meeting highlights the necessity for the Palestinian Liberation Organisation (PLO) to reform and restructure this body by renewing commitment to national constants and establishing a unified strategy to resist the Israeli occupation. 

The “Communication with the Israeli Society” committee, which is affiliated to the PLO, organised the meeting between the PA and Israeli occupation officials”.

Noting that activities with the Israeli occupation do not represent the Palestinian people, Al-Qanoa confirmed that the organisers of this meeting must be held accountable for their shameful behaviour.
