Hamas movement welcomed the UN’s 16-page ruling about the detention of Dr Mohammed Al-Khoudary, 83, and his son, Hani, 50, in Saudi Arabia.

The United NationsHuman Rihgts Council's (UNHRC) Working Group determined that the detention of the father and his son is arbitrary and that the appropriate remedy would be to release Mohammed Al Khoudary and Hani Al Khoudary immediately and accord them an enforceable right to compensation and other reparations.

In a press release, the movement pointed out that the UN’s ruling explained that the detention of both has no legal basis and violates their right to a fair trial.

Hamas also reiterated the necessity to release all Palestinians detained in Saudi jails held without any legal grounds.

The movement confirmed that Al-Khoudary and his son, along with the other Palestinians detained in the Kingdom, are subjected to oppression, and this contradicts the unwavering Saudi position in support of the Palestinian cause.
