Hamas deputy chief Saleh al-Arouri, along with member of Hamas Political Bureau Husam Badran, has met with secretary-general of Palestinian Islamic Jihad Ziyad al-Nakhala.
Both senior officials addressed the Palestinian situation, in general, and the Palestinian national issues, as well as how to achieve Palestinian unity on the basis of resisting the occupation, protecting Jerusalem, Palestinian holy sites, and Palestinian detainees, and breaking the Gaza siege.
They also discussed bilateral relations and how to boost and advance joint work between the two Palestinian resistance movements.
Both sides reiterated their commitment to the option of resistance as the only way to face off the Israeli occupation, liberate the occupied Palestinian territories, and restore Palestinian rights and sacred sites.
Reaffirming their rejection to all compromise proposals and monopoly of the Palestinian decision-making, both officials emphasised the necessity to hold a National Council election as a prelude to unifying the Palestinian people.
Both sides hailed Egyptian efforts to heal the intra-Palestinian rift and reorganise the Palestinian House.
The high-ranking officials saluted Palestinian detainees on hunger strike in Israeli occupation prisons, stressing that their issue is a top priority for the Palestinian resistance, that “will not rest until liberating them all.”
They agreed on enhancing bilateral ties, boosting coordination and collaboration at home and abroad, and unifying the Palestinian resistance factions on a national project based on the resistance option until liberation and return.
