Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh offered his congratulations to Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi on surviving an assassination attempt recently.

In a phone call, Haniyeh wished Iraq a future of security, stability, and unity, stressing: “Iraq has been and is still of strategic significance for the Palestinian cause and remains a protective shield for the Palestinian people in their struggle for liberation, return, and independence.” 

The Iraqi premier, in return, thanked Haniyeh for his call, confirming that he would handle this “critical moment of the Iraqi people’s lives with wisdom and patience.”  

Reiterating the necessity for achieving an intra-Palestinian unity, al-Kadhimi hoped the Palestinian people would triumph over challenges and dangers posed to the Palestinian cause.   

 “We are keen on accomplishing a Palestinian unity in the face of all dangers and challenges,” Haniyeh concluded.
