Deputy chairman of Hamas political bureau Ismail Haniya has met leaders of the national and Islamic Palestinian factions and briefed them on the recent political developments.
Hamas leaders Emad El-Alami and Khalil El-Hayya also accompanied Haniya in the meeting which took place in Gaza Wednesday.
Haniya briefed the factions on the Movement’s visit to Cairo and the meetings with Fatah in Doha.
He stressed Hamas is keen to turn a new page in the relations with Egypt, asserting that Hamas does not interfere with Egypt’s internal affairs, nor does it have links to any militant activity taking place on Egyptian soil.
Haniya confirmed that Hamas spares no measures to protect the Gaza-Egypt border and prevent anyone from harming the security in Egypt.
He stated that Hamas took a strategic decision to end the Palestinian division and bring upon reconciliation.
“We engaged the talks in Doha not to reach a new agreement but seeking to implement the past reconciliation agreements.” Haniya underlined.
