Hamas spokesperson, Hazem Qasem, stated the following:
Holding the so-called "flag marches" by herds of Israeli colonial settlers in Lod and Ramla in the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948 is racist and aggressive conduct against the indigenous Palestinian landowners who are steadfast in their homeland.
Organizing such marches and raising Israeli occupation flags cannot alter the Arab Palestinian identity of Palestine or the genuine belonging of its indigenous inhabitants.
These marches are an attempt by Israeli colonial settlers to retaliate to the true belonging of the national position of Palestinian citizens of the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948, who have stood up in support of their just cause during the "Sword of Jerusalem" battle.
These attempts are bound to fail in the face of the Palestinians' steadfastness; the Palestinian people everywhere will stand united in confronting the Israeli occupation aggression.
We call on Palestinian citizens of the Palestinian territories occupied in 1948 to escalate opposition and resistance to attempts at Israelisation and stir up chaos.
We also urge them to defend Jerusalem and its Muslim and Christian holy sites and protect its Arab Palestinian identity.
