Hamas official Ismail Ridwan said that granting the Israeli war minister Benny Gantz, and other war criminals, immunity from civil prosecution encourages the Israeli occupation to perpetrate more crimes against the Palestinian people. 

Dutch appeal court threw out a case filed by plaintiff Ismail Ziada who lost six relatives in an Israeli airstrike on Gaza in 2014. It ruled that Benny Gantz, who served as the Israeli occupation army chief of staff during the 2014 Israeli offensive, cannot be held liable. 

Ridwan emphasised that this ruling is against international law and human rights and highlights the double-standard policy towards the Palestinian cause. 

He pointed out that this ruling does not abolish the Palestinian people’s right to prosecute Israeli war criminals and hold them accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity.
