Hamas movement has condemned the remarks made by the member of the Fatah’s central committee, Jibreel Al-Rjoub, about the Palestinian reconciliation.
Hamas spokesperson, Hazem Qasem, described Al-Rjoub's statements as “provocative”.
“Al-Rjoub knows very well who hinders the reconciliation and has canceled the comprehensive elections.”
Qasem confirmed that such claims will not hide the truth about those who adopt a unilateral approach in Palestine, hinder the achievement of reconciliation, call off the elections, and obstruct the resistance against the Israeli occupation in the West Bank.
But Hamas adheres to the intra-Palestinian reconciliation and resistance against the Israeli occupation, thus prioritizing the higher interests of the Palestinian people over any partisan interests.
Qasem called on Fatah to show commitment to national partnership and respect the outcomes of the conference held by the secretaries-general of the Palestinian factions.
Hamas hailed the positions of the Palestinian factions that consensually agreed on the need to reform the Palestinian institutions based on the national interests and aspirations of the Palestinian people.
Qasem reiterated the necessity to hold the legislative, presidential, and national council elections. He also urged the Palestinian Authority and Fatah to abandon unilateralism, involve the other factions in making national decisions, and adopt a resistance plan against the Israeli occupation.
