Deputy chairman of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniya has made a phone call to the family of Dima al-Wawi, the recently freed youngest Palestinian girl to be imprisoned by the Israeli occupation.

Haniya congratulated al-Wawi’s father Ismail and expressed his great happiness for her freedom.

He praised the courage of the 12-year-old girl, adding that her detention constituted yet another heinous Israeli crime.

Dima al-Wawi, a 7th grader from the West Bank town of Halhoul, was arrested on February 9 while on her way to school. She was charged with attempting to carry out a stabbing operation and was sentenced to a fine and 4 months in prison, of which she spent 2 and a half months in Israeli lockups.
