The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas closely followed up the arrangements being made to hold the African Union Summit in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, scheduled for 5 February, in addition to Algeria's efforts to put revoking the Israeli occupation's Observer Status at the union at the top of the agenda that will be addressed in that meeting.
This move reflects the genuine Algerian position and is highly appreciated by the Palestinian people.
As it thanks Algeria for its strenuous efforts to revoke the observer status of the Israeli occupation at the AU, Hamas calls on the friendly Arab and African nations to follow Algeria's lead and coordinate with it to achieve this goal that reflects the spirit of the Arab world and the African continent, who share with the Palestinian people a decades-long struggle to end colonialism and occupation.
Expelling the Israeli occupation from the AU should be a demand for every member state of the union.
The presence of the Israeli occupation in the AU at any level contradicts the principles of the African continent and its historical legacy of eradicating apartheid that the Israeli occupation represents in its worst form.
The Israeli occupation is seeking to join the AU to take advantage of its resources and assets and wage wars in the continent in order to boost Israeli arms deals.
