Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh on Tuesday evening phoned the family of Hamas official Mohammed al-Katari, 68, who passed away at dawn.
The Hamas chief offered his sincere condolences to al-Katari's family, pointing to his dedicated role in preaching and hailing him for his steadfastness and resilience throughout his life despite imprisonment and sickness.
"We have missed one of Hamas' officials and leading figures," Haniyeh said. "Al-Katari has left with a long and bright history in which he set an example in sacrifice and resilience."
He continued: "May Allah shower the deceased with His mercy and grant his family patience over his loss."
