Member of Hamas Political Bureau, Husam Badran, said that a “small group” in the Palestinian Authority hopes that the status quo would remain as it is, without going for any significant political changes.

The senior Hamas official called on the Palestinian Authority to abandon its policy of taking national decisions unilaterally, hold the general elections, and cut off the “economic and security collaboration” with the Israeli occupation. 

“Let’s respect the vote of the Palestinian people, regardless of the results,” Badran added. 

Badran emphasised that the Palestinian people have many qualified persons who can steer the nation towards achieving political aspirations in freedom, return and independence.
