Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qasem stated the following:
 
Hamas welcomes the African Union summit's decision to suspend granting observer status to the Israeli occupation. 

The Palestinian resistance movement called on the committee assigned to address this matter to act in line with the AU's values and principles based on rejecting occupation and racial discrimination and endorsing the Palestinian people's struggle for their rights and self-determination.  

Hamas hailed the stances taken and roles played by all AU member states who pushed back against granting the Israeli occupation an observer status. 

This confirms that they act in line with this genuine organisation's principles and continue to support the Palestinian legitimate rights.
