Head of Hamas' Media Division Abroad, Hisham Qasem, said that Australia's decision to designate his movement as a "terrorist organization" reflects an appalling bias towards the Israeli occupation.

"The Israeli occupation views any party that opposes it as terrorist even while it practices systematic state-sponsored terrorism against the Palestinian people in the occupied territories and in diaspora," Qasem pointed out in a press statement.

He continued: "Hamas has borne no animosity towards any country around the world and has only fought the Israeli occupation inside the occupied territories."

Qasem stressed that Australia's move "defies logic and is not based on any evidence but only aims to fully embrace the Israeli occupation's aggressive narrative."

The Hamas official affirmed that Australia's planned listing would not shake his movement's conviction to continue resisting the Israeli occupation until achieving its people's aspirations for liberation and return.
