On Palestinian Child Day, the Palestinian people recall the occupation's criminal policies against Palestinian children.
As Palestinian Child Day marked today, the occupation still detains more than 230 children and practices various forms of abuse and torture against them.
In addition to the occupation's escalation in targeting Palestinian children in the 1948 occupied lands and the occupied West Bank, the suffering of Gaza children continues as a result of the unjust siege, and the difficult humanitarian conditions of refugee children worsen in the camps at home and in the diaspora.
As we, in the Hamas Movement, consider the children martyrs an icon of the struggle and a witness to the occupation crimes and its draconian measures, we pay tribute to the martyred children Muhammad al-Durra, Iman Hajjo, Fawzi al-Junaidi, Muhammad Abu Khudair, and other childhood martyrs. We also salute the children of the steadfast heroic detainees and wish the wounded children a speedy recovery for the wounded children.
On Palestinian Child Day, we affirm the following:
First: The occupation's assassination crimes against Palestinian innocent Palestinian children, amid international silence and inaction, reveal the extent of the occupation leaders’ recklessness with all international laws. We confirm that these crimes will not be subject to a statute of limitations, and will not intimidate our Palestinian people from continuing their legitimate struggle.
Second: The occupation’s continued detention, and heinous psychological and physical torture against the Palestinian children are crimes that violate all international laws, norms, and covenants. We call for criminalizing their detention and demand their immediate release.
Third: We call on the United Nations to include the Zionist entity in its “list of shame” that it issues against the organizations and countries that violate the rights of children in conflict areas.
We also call on humanitarian and human rights organizations to pay attention to the systematic attacks and violations against Palestinian children and to enable the Palestinian children to live in safety and dignity, like the world's children.
Fourth: Our Palestinian people have nullified the notorious quote of the criminal Zionist entity founder, Ben Gurion, that 'The old will die and the young will forget,' for our children inherit the path of resistance from the older generation until the liberation and return to Palestine.
