Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh received on Friday evening a phone call from Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, during which they addressed Israeli occupation's violations in Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque and assassinations of Palestinians by Israeli occupation forces in the occupied West Bank.

The Hamas chief hailed Iran's position in support of the Palestinian cause and resistance.

"Our Palestinian people are committed to holding to their rights, lands, and holy sites," Haniyeh added. "All attempts to take control of the Al-Aqsa compound or change its Islamic character will not succeed."

For his part, Amir-Abdollahian restated his country's support for the Palestinian people and their legitimate rights, denouncing Israeli occupation crimes, including Friday's raids by Israeli occupation forces into the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Iranian official praised the Palestinian resistance for pushing back against the Israeli occupation's aggression on Muslim holy sites and its attempts to take over them.
