The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas denounces the Berlin Administrative Court's decision under false pretexts to outlaw all activities set to be held to mark the Palestinian Nakba Day.

We regard this move as an infringement on the Palestinians' right to commemorate their Nakba (catastrophe) and forced displacement from their villages and towns in an attempt to block the narrative that exposes the grotesque image of the Israeli occupation by suppressing the Palestinian refugee issue, which bears witness to the one of the most major ethnic cleansings of the Palestinian people, who are still suffering from its consequences until this day.

We emphasise that the Palestinian people everywhere have a right to mark the Nakba anniversary in all towns and forums across the whole world.

Their right to express their opinion and demand their right to return to their homes, from which they were forced out, is guaranteed by international laws and norms.

Any infringement on this right constitutes an appalling assault on the freedom of opinion and expression that the West claims to be embracing.

This ban will also perpetrate the double-standards policy adopted by Germany towards the just Palestinian cause. This requires the international community to assume its historical responsibility and put an end to the injustices inflicted on the Palestinian people and support them in their struggle for liberation, return, and right to self-determination.
