Hamas and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) have reiterated the importance of UNRWA's role in aiding Palestinian refugees until they return to their towns and villages in historic Palestine. 

During a meeting on Wednesday between a delegation from Hamas, headed by member of its politburo abroad Ali Baraka, and senior PFLP officials in the Lebanese capital Beirut, both sides reaffirmed their rejection of any attempt to transfer UNRWA's services to the host countries or other international institutions, calling on the Arab league and international community to protect the UN body from such schemes.   
 
Baraka offered his congratulations to the PFLP delegation on the completion of its general conference and the election of Ahmad Saadat as its secretary general and Jamil Mizhr as his deputy, in addition to the formation of a new PFLP politburo. 

The Hamas delegation hailed the PFLP for remaining committed to holding internal democratic elections. 

The delegation reiterated the necessity for coordination, dialogue, and cooperation with the PFLP to continue in order to achieve the interests of the Palestinians at home and abroad. 
    
Both sides addressed the latest developments concerning the Palestinian cause and the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people and their lands and holy sites. 

Calling on Lebanon's newly-elected parliament to grant Palestinian refugees in the country their humanitarian and social rights, the two delegations reaffirmed the importance to cement relations between the Palestinian and Lebanese peoples and to preserve peace in the country. 

Meanwhile, they condemned the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Palestinian people, in general, and Palestinian citizens of occupied Jerusalem and their Muslim and Christian holy sites, in particular. 
   
They hailed Palestinian detainees held in Israeli occupation jails, reaffirming their solidarity with them in their continuous fight against Israeli arbitrary measures targeting them.
 
As for normalisation with the Israeli occupation, both delegations denounced such moves as a "stab in the back of the Palestinian people and a betrayal of the Ummah's central cause," calling on the Arab and Muslim nations to pressure the governments which have normalised ties with the Israeli occupation to backtrack on their decision.  

They also called on the Palestinian Joint Action Commission in Lebanon to assume its role towards Palestinian refugees, serve them and defend their rights and issues, in addition to preserving security and stability in Palestinian refugee camps in the country.
