Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh has phoned the father of Husam Fatafta, whose son was detained after being shot and wounded by Israeli occupation forces during an anti-settlement protest in the occupied West Bank town of Tarqumiyah west of Hebron.

Haniyeh stressed that Fatafta was detained as "he was defending his land that he inherited from his fathers and grandfathers in an act of heroism and bravery, expressing the anger of the Palestinian people in the face of the notorious Israeli settler-colonial occupiers."

Voicing his full solidarity with the Fatafta family, the Hamas chief wished a fast and full recovery for Husam and his brother who was also shot and injured by Israeli occupation troops.
