The Palestinian Authority bowing to US pressures by handing over the bullet that killed Al-Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh raises doubts about the timing of its move ahead of a visit by US President Joe Biden to the region, said Basem Naim, member of Hamas Political Bureau in the Gaza Strip. 

In a press statement, Naim explained that the PA leadership sought to avoid "poisoning the atmosphere and embarrassing Biden given that Abu Akleh holds US citizenship especially that her assassination has become an international public opinion matter."  

Naim held the PA responsible for any failure to hold Israeli occupation war criminals accountable, in general, and in this case, in particular. 

The senior Hamas official called on the PA leadership to stop "trading the Palestinian national issues with compromises aiming for personal and partisan gains."
