Head of Hamas Political Bureau Ismail Haniyeh has stressed that the Palestinian cause is a matter of consensus among the Arab nations. 

Speaking to the Algerian state television, Haniyeh explained that any Arab weakness affects the Palestinian people, while Arab consensus is a "source of strength" for the Palestinian people. 
Haniyeh said that he believed that Algeria is capable of bringing the Palestinian cause back at the top of the Arab agendas.   

He confirmed that his visit to Algeria, the first of its kind to the North African nation, conveyed positive impressions, citing the unwavering support voiced by Algerian officials and figures for the Palestinian cause.   

The top Hamas official expressed his appreciation and thanks to Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune for inviting him to attend celebrations to mark the 60th anniversary of his country's independence.  

Achieving Palestinian national unity, reaching a political consensus, and restructuring the Palestinian leadership, in addition to agreeing on a resistance strategy will improve the status of the Palestinian cause, Haniyeh noted.   

Pointing to a proposal made by the Algerian president to achieve Palestinian reconciliation, Haniyeh said that his movement welcomed this move and dispatched a senior delegation to Algeria, where they held meetings with Algerian officials and briefed them on the movement's vision to end the intra-Palestinian division. 

He continued: "Algeria also held meetings with several Arab states that are concerned about the Palestinian reconciliation, including Jordan, Tukey, Qatar, and Egypt, to set the stage for this initiative to succeed."

Algeria is exercising quiet, discreet diplomacy and holding shuttle meetings with Arab leaders to hold an Arab summit to discuss Arab matters, particularly the Palestinian cause, Haniyeh added.
 
The Hamas chief said that he expects Algeria will succeed in holding the Arab summit, which will be a true reflection of the Arab conscience towards the Palestinian cause.
