Haniya urges Egypt to permanently open Rafah crossing

Deputy chief of Hamas Political Bureau, Ismail Haniya, urged on Sunday the Egyptian authorities to keep the Rafah border crossing open permanently.

Speaking during a festivity held by Hamas, Haniya said that Hamas has done everything within its capacity to boost security along the borders with Egypt.

He stressed that Hamas is committed to its role as a national liberation movement, confirming that the Movement has no military activity in Sinai or elsewhere.

 “Our position remains unchanged; we do not intervene in internal Egyptian affairs.” He underlined.

He called for protecting the Jerusalem intifada and boosting Palestinian unity.

“We welcome any Egyptian effort to resume national dialogue and fulfil past agreements.” He underlined.
