Head of Hamas Political Bureau Abroad Khaled Meshal said that the Palestinian freedom struggle is against Zionists only, and the movement does not fight Jews.

In an interview with the Aljazeera TV channel aired Friday, the senior Hamas official emphasized that Hamas does not have any problems with Jews worldwide, but the problem is with Zionist groups that occupied Palestine in 1948 and created the Israeli occupation state.

“We fight against Zionist Israelis who have occupied our land, displaced our people and desecrated Jerusalem… our struggle against them is not because of their religion,” he explained.

The head of the Hamas politburo abroad called on Saudi Arabia to release all Palestinian detainees held in its jails.

Reiterating that Hamas has never harmed any Arab party and does not interfere in the affairs of any country, Meshal stressed that his movement is not part of any Arab conflict.

Meshal pointed out that self-defence is a legitimate right guaranteed under all religions and international law, reaffirming that the Palestinian resistance to the Israeli occupation is legitimate and shall not be labeled as terrorism.

As for means of communications with Hamas, the former Hamas chief noted that some parties contact Hamas directly while others, such as some EU states that fear for their interests, prefer to use covert means to stay in touch with the movement or have indirect contact with it.

Hamas welcomes efforts by any state to contact it using any of these means without preconditions, Meshal confirmed.
