The Palestinian people have been resisting the Israeli occupation for decades and kept a profound belief in the justice of their national cause and their historical right to their homeland.

The Palestinians also believe that comprehensive resistance with all means possible including armed resistance is the only option to liberate their homeland, release Palestinian detainees from Israeli prisons, and restore the right of return for Palestinian refugees.

In light of this approach toward the Palestinian struggle, Hamas and Islamic Jihad held a high-profile meeting in Gaza city on Monday afternoon.

Attended by senior political, military and security officials from both movements, the meeting focused on how to reinforce the Palestinian resistance project.

The gathering also addressed how to mobilise popular and national support for such a project in order to pave the way for a comprehensive revolution against the Israeli occupation across occupied Palestine.

The attendants, in addition, discussed bilateral relations between their movements at all levels and agreed on enhancing joint action and activating joint committees at the political and military levels.

In the meeting, both movements confirmed the following points:

1- We salute all Palestinian martyrs who were killed during the latest Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.

We hail the Palestinian security forces in the Gaza Strip for working around the clock on protecting the domestic front.

2- We will continue with resistance, which is our strategic option that we will never abandon, and will continue to coordinate our efforts in this regard with all the Palestinian factions.

3- The Palestinian Joint Operations Chamber constitutes a national achievement as it includes all Palestinian resistance movements and all work in one framework to manage the struggle against the Israeli occupation. We will reinforce its role until liberation and return.

4- On the 53rd anniversary of the arson attack on the Al-Aqsa Mosque, we emphasize that Jerusalem is at the heart of the Palestinian freedom struggle which will continue until liberation and return.

5- Both movements confirm that they are keen to achieve Palestinian national unity by setting up a new National Council that represents all Palestinians at home and abroad.

6- Hamas and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad urge their members to further embrace unity and work together on serving the Palestinian people and the resistance project.

7- Both movements express their gratitude to the Arab and Muslim world and the free people of the world for backing the Palestinian people during the latest Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip.

We also thank the Arab and Muslim nations, especially Iran, Egypt, Qatar, and some Arab and Muslim parties, for endorsing the Palestinian people’s legitimate right to defend themselves.
