A delegation from the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas, headed by member of the movement's political bureau, Dr. Khalil Al-Haya, participated in the 68th annual conference to commemorate the founding of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), held in the state of Kedah. The delegation included members of the movement's Arab and Islamic Relations Portfolio Osama Hamdan and Mahmoud Mardawi.
During the conference, the Hamas delegation met with leaders of the ruling Islamic party, at the head of them was the PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, ministers and politicians, Menteri Besar of Kedah, Dato' Seri Haji Muhammad Sanusi, as well as and the Malaysian Minister of Religious Affairs Idris Ahmad.
During their meeting, the delegation stressed the importance of the strong relationship between the Malaysian and Palestinian peoples, which is a means of supporting and empowering the Palestinian people against the Israeli occupation authorities' aggression.
Confirming the country's support for the Palestinian people's legitimate right to resist the occupier and recover their occupied lands, Prime Minister's special envoy to the Middle East, Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, called on all Muslims to provide their brothers in Palestine with help and support.
The delegation's visit will continue in Kuala Lumpur in the coming days and will include meetings with the Malaysian government, and political parties, and participating delegations.
