The Israeli occupation’s attempts to appropriate the Palestinian heritage and legacy of historic Palestine are part of its fierce war against the Palestinian people and their lands and holy sites, Hamas spokesperson Jihad Taha has said. 

“The Israeli occupation will not succeed in erasing or altering the Palestinian national identity, which is steeped in history,” Taha stressed in a press statement Friday. 

Taha explained that the Palestinian heritage is a "deep-rooted extension of the Palestinian history and civilisation" and is strongly connected to their national identity and continuous struggle for freedom. 

The Hamas spokesperson emphasised that the Palestinian people will continue holding on to their heritage and defending it against Israeli attempts to wipe it out or alter it.
