Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qasim has said that the issue of Palestinian detainees is a top priority for the movement, stressing that Hamas is “working round the clock to liberate them from Israeli occupation prisons.” 

“The Wafa al-Ahrar prisoner exchange deal is one of the most important accomplishments of the Palestinian resistance across Palestine as it constituted a solid achievement,” Qasim added in a press release on the anniversary of the 2011 agreement signed between the Palestinian resistance and the Israeli occupation. 

Reaffirming that the issue of Palestinian detainees is of central significance for Hamas, Qasim explained that the Palestinian resistance movement has spared no effort since its establishment to liberate Palestinian detainees from Israeli occupation jails.  

As for the efforts reportedly being exerted to hammer out a new prisoner swap deal, the Hamas spokesperson stressed that his movement insists the agreement meets the demands of the Palestinian resistance.
