Journalists in occupied Palestine are subjected to the most atrocious violations and crimes by the Israeli occupation, which amounted to about 476 violations during the first half of this year, and included detention, prosecution, verbal abuse and intimidation, deportation and harassment, seizure of press equipment, and premeditated killing of them, the latest of which was the assassination of two journalists, Shirin Abu Aqila and Ghufran Warasna, in an attempt to silence the truth and to conceal the evidence of its crimes and terrorist practices against our people, land, and Islamic and Christian holy places.

On the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, Hamas reiterates that the Israeli occupation’s policy to hide its crimes and violations will not succeed, and we call on the United Nations, the international community, and all human rights organisations to take effective action to protect Palestinian journalists and hold the Israeli occupation leaders accountable.
