The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas welcomes the UN General Assembly's (UNGA)Fourth Committee's approval of a resolution to seek an advisory opinion from the International Court of Justice on the illegality of the Israeli colonial occupation of the occupied Palestinian territories.
This resolution represents a significant achievement and step that can be taken advantage of in favour of the Palestinian national cause and rights.
We thank all the states that voted in favour of the resolution and endorsed the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people's rights to freedom, independence, and self-determination in the face of an abominable colonial occupation of the occupied Palestinian territories.
We condemn the positions taken by some states that voted against the resolution and sided with the Israeli occupation and its false narrative in complete disregard of justice and the people's right to self-determination and freedom.
We highly appreciate all diplomatic efforts being exerted in support of the Palestinian national rights. We call on the Palestinian Authority and the Palestine Liberation organisation (PLO) to proceed with such endevours and not to cave in to any US-Israeli pressures that they might be brought under.
