Today marks the tenth anniversary of the Israeli occupation’s 2012 aggression against the besieged Gaza Strip, in which the Palestinian people have set great examples of steadfastness and heroism by embracing resistance in the face of the Israeli occupation’s offensive.
Remembering this aggression, the Hamas movement salutes all Palestinian martyrs, above all commander-in-chief Ahmed Al-Jabari, planner of the Wafa Al-Ahrar (True promise of the free men) prisoner swap deal, and wishes the wounded a speedy recovery.
On this anniversary, Hamas states the following:
First: The 2012 aggression will go down in history as a milestone in the Palestinian freedom struggle against the Israeli occupation. It also proved that comprehensive resistance is the only way to liberate occupied Palestine and holy places and extract our rights.
Second: The Israeli occupation thought that assassinating commander Ahmed al-Jabari would weaken the determination of our people and dissuade them from resisting it, but they have vowed to resist the occupation until it ends.
Third: The occupied city of Jerusalem and the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque have been a red line, and the core of the Palestinian freedom struggle against the Israeli occupation and the occupation’s Judaization and colonial settlement expansion schemes that aim at obliterating its historic features and identity are bound to fail.
Fourth: Hamas restates its commitment to release all Palestinian detainees languishing in the Israeli occupation’s jails with all possible means, and the Wafa al-Ahrar prisoner swap deal is an example.
Fifth: We call on the Palestinian people scattered in the diaspora to strengthen the home front with unity against the Israeli occupation’s continued aggression. Hamas also calls on the Arab and Muslim Ummah and the free people of the world to continue supporting the Palestinians in their legitimate struggle against the Israeli occupation.
