The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has denounced the death of Palestinian detainee Nasser Abu Humaid as a "grave crime committed by the Israeli occupation against the detainee and his fellow detainees, along with the Palestinian people." 

Hamas spokesperson Hazem Qasem stressed that the deliberate medical negligence policy reflects the "terrorist" nature of the Israeli prison administration. 

In a press statement early Tuesday, Qasem explained that Abu Humaid set an example to the Palestinian people with his willingness to make great sacrifices and commitment to all Palestinian national constants. 

The issue of Palestinian detainees remains a top priority for Hamas, Qasem reaffirmed. 

"Hamas, alongside the Palestinian people, has made great sacrifices in the quest to release Palestinian detainees and is in a continuous struggle to secure a new prisoner exchange deal," Qasem concluded.
