The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas has commemorated its 35th anniversary with a massive rally in the southern Lebanese city of Sidon.

The rally was attended by tens of thousands of cadres and supporters in Lebanon, as well as figures from the Palestinian and Lebanese factions.

'Hamas committed to Palestinian constants'

Head of Hamas Political Bureau Abroad Khalid Meshal reaffirmed the movement's commitment to the Palestinian national constants, including the right to return and resist the occupation.

Speaking at the rally held on Tuesday afternoon, Meshal stressed that Hamas will never abandon the Palestinian constants and rights.

Meshal called for accomplishing a true Palestinian unity on the basis of partnership and democratic principles as the most ultra-extremist, far-right Israeli occupation government is about to be sworn in.

Arab public support for Palestinian cause

The Hamas chief abroad emphasised that the Palestinian cause remains at the heart of the Arab world, pointing to the widespread popular support for the Palestinian cause during the Qatar World Cup.

Meshal called on the Arab regimes that endorsed normalisation with the Israeli occupation to backtrack on such move.

'Central cause for Arabs and Muslims'

Mohammed Taqoush, head of Lebanon's Islamic Group, said that the Palestinian cause is central to all Arabs and Muslims around the world.

Speaking at the rally in Sidon, Taqoush saluted the Palestinian people who have long been keen on keeping the Palestinian cause central to the Arab and Muslim world.

The head of the Islamic Group stressed that his movement will endorse the rights of Lebanon's Palestinian refugees and work to provide them with a decent life until they return to their homeland.
