The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas welcomes a vote by the United Nations General Assembly demanding that the International Court of Justice (ICJ) provide an opinion on the Israeli occupation's violation of the Palestinian right to self-determination and the illegality of the Israeli settler-colonial occupation of the Palestinian territories. 

This move represents an accomplishment and an important step towards ending the Israeli occupation and its infringement upon the Palestinian national rights. 

We hail all the states that voted in favour of the resolution and endorsed the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people's rights to freedom and independence. 

We call for further steps to be taken at the international level to hold the Israeli occupation accountable for its continuous crimes and its disregard for all Palestinian rights guaranteed by international law and conventions.
