The Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement Hamas welcomes the final Communiqué of the African Union (AU) 36th summit in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, supporting Palestine’s full membership in the United Nations and suspending granting the Israeli occupation state an observer status at the AU.

Hamas highly appreciates the AU member states’ stances and the states of Algeria and South Africa and calls on them to continue their efforts to alienate the settler-colonial occupation state from Africa.

We call on the international community and the United Nations to criminlise the Israeli occupation crimes and repeated violations against the Palestinian people, territories, and holy places and support the Palestinians’ freedom struggle until they enjoy their legitimate rights and establish a fully sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
