The undersigned Palestinian factions condemn the Palestinian Authority's backtracking on a United Nations Security Council (UNSC) draft resolution condemning illegal Israeli settlement activity and replacing it with a feckless presidential statement. 

Rejected at the popular, national, and political levels, such a move comes as the Palestinian people have stepped up their resistance to the Israeli occupation and its far-right, fascist government, which is moving ahead with its Judaization and displacement schemes in occupied Jerusalem and plans to expand illegal settlement activity and legalise illegal settler-colonial outposts.    

It is time for the PA to backtrack on such a move and not cause further political harm to our Palestinian cause. The PA has to push for a unified national strategy agreed upon by all segments of the Palestinian people and to rebuild the Palestinian political system on the basis of pluralism.
