Member of the Hamas Political Bureau and head of Hamas International Relations Office Dr Musa Abu Marzouq said that the Hamas’s major strategy is based on resisting the Israeli occupation and defending the Palestinian people against Israeli crimes and violations.

In a Q&A session organized by the Hamas official website (English) to answer the questions of journalists about current political developments, the Hamas official said that the agenda of Netanyahu’s government push for an escalation.

He explained that the situation in the West Bank is directly associated with Israeli crimes in the West Bank, noting that Hamas will not observe Israeli crimes and violationssilently. “We will face the Israeli violations through armed resistance against the Israeli occupation.”

Answering a question about the Aqaba summit, the senior Hamas official emphasised that the outcomes of the meetings harm the Palestinian interests and the intended Israeli measures push for another escalation.

Abu Marzouq added: “The Aqaba talks took place to de-escalate the heated situation, but the Israeli crimes continue on the ground in a form of Israeli breakings into the Al-Aqsa and heinous crimes against Palestinians.”

He explained that the current situation in the West Bank may lead to another Intifada, which may erupt in protest against continued Israeli attacks.

Concerning the possibility of another Israeli offensive, Abu Marzouq said that the trigger of the ‘Sword of Jerusalem’ battel in 2021 was the Israeli occupation's colonial plans and violations in the West Bank and the Israeli occupation is committing more flagrant violations now.

Abu Marzouq confirmed that calm will be restored when the Israeli occupation ends its occupation of Palestine and stops its violations and settlement plans against the Palestinian people.

Regarding the intra-Palestinian reconciliation, Abu Marzouq confirmed that Hamas is keen on achieving reconciliation and healing the Palestinian spilt, but the Israeli occupation thwarts these efforts every time Hamas and Fatah reach an agreement.
